Virtual Lactation Consultation

Community Lactation and Parenting offers virtual consultations as a way for breastfeeding families to get expert clinical support and information in the comfort of their own homes. A comprehensive history of your pregnancy, birth and feeding history will be collected prior to our appointment. Assessment of positioning and latch will be performed via video (it's helpful for you to have a support person available to help). We will work together to develop a care plan based on your feeding goals. A detailed report will be sent to the physicians involved in the care of both breastfeeding parent and baby and a superbill will be provided for you to submit to insurance for potential reimbursement. Two weeks of secure messaging with the IBCLC through our secure chat portal is included in your consultation fee. Time overages will be billed $20 per 10 minute increment. Tricare and Medicaid subscribers are eligible for discounted rates. Please contact Amy for details.

Positive Parenting Support Session

Parenting is HARD. Sometimes we need a non-judgmental place to help process behavior patterns in our children and discover our personal triggers. Listening actively and reflecting in a confidential environment often empowers parents to deeply examine the emotional and developmental needs of their children. We will discuss strategies unique to your situation and create a parenting action plan. If beneficial to your family, a referral to a counseling professional knowledgable in attachment theory will be made.

This service is great for getting ongoing, evidence-based support and information from Amy Johnston, IBCLC for questions occurring after 7 days of your visit. You must be a current client who has had a comprehensive visit in your home or Amy's office to qualify for this service.

Lactation Office Visit

This friendly and comprehensive private consultation in our cozy office focuses on a detailed history of your pregnancy, birth and feeding experience including breast exam, infant oral and anatomical examination, comprehensive feeding assessment, a personalized care plan centered on your feeding goals and communication with your health care providers. Two weeks of messaging with the IBCLC through our secure portal are included in your consultation fee. We have office hours Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and selective Saturdays.

In Office Lactation Follow Up

This service is for established clients who have already had a complete in office consultation. This booking allows families to continue receiving IBCLC services at an affordable rate. These appointments are a great opportunity to ask questions about and get help modifying care plans if needed. Feeding observation and follow-up weight checks are provided (both pre and post feeding weights will be assessed if clinically indicated). We will take another look at feeding goals, celebrate your successes and evaluate next steps. This is also a great venue for established clients to return at a later phase in baby's development as questions arise throughout the normal course of breastfeeding. This is an in office lactation follow-up for clients who have been seen previously in home or in office.

Pre Natal Lactation Consultation

Get an individualized breastfeeding education plan tailored to your specific goals and history. This visit in our cozy office is ideal for mothers who are approximately 4-8 weeks from their estimated delivery date. During the appointment we will discuss your medical history and address any questions you have about previous feeding experiences or concerns you feel may interfere with breastfeeding. A breast exam, demonstration of breastfeeding basics, including the science of milk production, positioning, steps to achieve a comfortable latch, feeding cues, signs of satiety, typical newborn behaviors, breastfeeding troubleshooting tips, and the importance of skin-to-skin contact will ensure that you and your baby are off to the best possible start! This consultation is ideal for any expectant mother, but especially those who are expecting multiples, have flat or inverted nipples, conceived with fertility treatments, have had breast surgeries, will be adopting or co-feeding or are diabetic.

Lactation Home Visit

These relaxed consultations allow for skilled, hands-on help in the privacy and comfort of your own home. They usually last about 2 hours and include a detailed history of your pregnancy, birth and feeding experience, including breast exam, infant oral and anatomical examination, comprehensive feeding assessment, a personalized care plan centered on your feeding goals and communication with your health care providers. A 36 hour follow up call and one week of messaging is included.

This service is for established clients who have already had a complete in-home evaluation. This booking allows families to continue receiving IBCLC services at an affordable rate. These appointments are a great opportunity to ask questions about and get help modifying care plans if needed. We will take another look at feeding goals, celebrate your successes and evaluate next steps. This is also a great venue for established clients to return at a later phase in baby's development as questions arise throughout the normal course of breastfeeding. This is an in home lactation follow-up ONLY for clients who have previously received a home visit from the IBCLC.
