Dog Initial Consultation $410

*PLEASE READ: A NONREFUNDABLE reservation fee of $100 is required to hold the appointment slot and is applied to the total initial consultation fee ($410) charged at the end of the visit. Please see our cancellation policy under FAQs on the website. *Please fill out the canine behavior history form found on the website under "Resources" at least 3 days before the appointment for our review to prepare for the appointment. The initial consultation lasts approximately 1 1/2 hours. Anyone who will be working with your pet should try to attend the initial consultation (in person or video) except for young children because of the length of the consultation. After assessing your pet, we will provide individualized written behavior treatment plans with handouts. The plan includes a combination of (1) management strategies (2) behavior modification exercises (3) mental enrichment activities (4) training tools (5) supplements and/or behavior medication as needed. All of the above are important components to every behavior treatment plan. Unlimited email follow-up is included up to 3 months after the initial consultation. It is important to remember that behavior treatment plans require your input and hard work to be successful. A current patient follow-up appointment is recommended 6-8 weeks after the initial consultation, and may be continued thereafter. After your appointment, our office will communicate directly with your primary veterinarian and send them a copy of the visit summary to make sure they are informed of the plan.

Current Patient Follow-up Appointment $90

This appointment applies to returning patients who have **been seen within the last 6 months. Behavior follow-up appointments allow us to evaluate your pet’s response to the behavior modification/medication plan and adjust accordingly. We offer both in-clinic and video follow-up appointments based on what is best suited to the needs of your pet and your schedule.

Behavior Modification Training Session (1 session: $65)

Our patients often require specialized behavior modification programs with our trainers like basket muzzle training, cooperative care handling, or relax on a mat. Please note that our behavioral training techniques are based on science, and we do not advocate or prescribe aversive methods to modify behavior.

Behavior Recheck Appointment $140

The purpose of this recheck appointment is to reevaluate patients who were seen over six months ago. Please note that Dr. Rigterink must see your pet for an in-person recheck appointment at least once every 6 to 12 months to maintain a valid doctor-patient relationship to make medical recommendations and prescribe medications.
