The Ruins Project Tour
Located in Whitsett, PA, Rachel’s property is also home to the now defunct Banning #2 Coal Mine. Rachel has made a lifelong commitment to transforming the walls of this former mine on her property, dubbed The Ruins Project, into a long-term mosaic art installation. This mosaic pilgrimage park is attracting artists, students, art and history appreciators, and GAP travelers from all over the world. The Ruins Project is an ode to the artist, which Rachel has always been, and the coal miner, whose roots are so deeply embedded in the soul and culture of southwestern, Pennsylvania. Tours by appointment only year round. Minimum of 3 people required to book a tour.
