Born and raised on the sandy, desertous Navajo reservation in Arizona, Andrew spent his childhood playing with little but his imagination. There was no electricity, no running water, and no technology. He spent most of his days drawing and helping his parents take care of sheep when he wasn't away at boarding school.
In his senior year of high school, Andrew's father gave him advice that had a significant impact on his career decision. He told Andrew that he needed to "pull for himself," that he would not always be there to support him. He could follow in his dad's footsteps as a carpenter or perhaps follow in his brother in-law's (David John) to begin a career in the hair industry. Being a very creative individual, Andrew jumped at the opportunity to move to the city to become a hairdresser. With burgeoning skill and natural talent, he found himself performing in hair shows before he had even completed beauty school. Since his early years, has won numerous awards in hair competitions.
