Primary Instruction (Learn to fly, Added Rating)

Where do I choose the instructor? While we can ensure there will be an instructor for you to fly with, we often need to swap around roles on the glider side and most of our instructors are part time MHG pilots. This means that we can't guarantee who will be available for your lesson. We have found that flying with multiple instructors actually works better in the long run, as you learn differently working with different people. Any sticking points in the learning process with one instructor can become unstuck with another. $55 per hour rental and $65 per hour of air/ground instruction. $16 per thousand feet of elevation gained on tow plus $15 hookup. Instruction delivered in our easy to fly training fleet of Schweizer 2-33 gliders. This service books your instructor and aircraft. Please show up with plenty of time to preflight your aircraft before the start of your lesson if you have already been taught how to do the pre-flight procedure. This lets us get flying right away!

Advanced Dual-only 2-32 training, soaring, single seat checkout

We offer dual-only instruction in our historical Schweizer 2-32 N2472W and sister plane N2471W for the purposes of advanced training, as well as for students concurrently learning to fly in our 2-33 "trainers." Learn to soar in mountain wave and go farther and higher than we are usually able to do in the 2-33 trainers. You get to fly with a CFI-G and log dual given as well as PIC time if you are already a glider pilot. Minimum 1 hour instruction and rental. Instruction is $65 per hour, ground and air instruction. A typical lesson is roughly 1.5 hours. Tows are $16 per thousand feet and $15 per hookup. Rental is $65 per hour with a minimum 1 hour based on flight time. We offer this service as a complement to our instruction provided in the lower-performance Schweizer 2-33 gliders. Stretch your legs and learn how to soar in addition to learning to safely fly a glider. We have found students do well with a hybrid approach to training that has certain skills learned first in the bigger, heavier, faster 2-32 before taking those skills into the lightly loaded trainer, especially on more turbulent flying days. You will need to book 2-32 dual instruction as part of a checkout to fly our single-place SGS 1-34. Include your intentions in the appointment notes so our instructor can best prepare to prepare you. $65 per hour rental, $65 per hour instruction, and tows are $16 per thousand feet with a $15 hookup.
